From the founder
I’m Eric Spencer. FROM AMERICA LLC is my small studio — one person, no venture capital, no five-year roadmap. I make apps for iPhone and tools for the web. The goal is to ship a small number of careful things and stand behind them.
Each product is owned end-to-end by the same hands that conceived it. The throughline across all of them is the same — real problems, careful work, and the patience to do a small number of things well.

About the wall
The front page is an archive of two words. Every clip is someone saying “from America”, cut to the word — nothing else in the frame, not the sentence around it, not the thought it belonged to.
Closed captions say roughly where the phrase was spoken, but captions are lowercase, lossy, and often wrong: one read “companies that have thrived from america” where the tape says thrived in America. So captions only nominate. The audio decides.
Each candidate is transcribed with word-level timing and kept only if the phrase is genuinely there as two consecutive words — from America’s and from American do not count. Then each boundary is moved to the quietest point nearby, because speech dips between words and that dip is where a cut belongs. Afterwards the clip is transcribed once more; if the phrase is no longer audible, it does not make it in. Usually that means the original detection was wrong all along.
Most of the material is American broadcast television by way of the Internet Archive’s TV News Archive. The rest is film, music video, documentary, and interview. These are seconds-long excerpts, presented as commentary on a single recurring phrase, and every clip links back to its source. If something here is yours and you would rather it were not, say so and it comes out.
